About

Hello, I am Tabitha Orr

Creating is like breathing.

I started my career making costumes for cosplayers. Then as a Costume and Production Designer in the film and media industry. During COVID, productions shut down. Upkeep for my business was unsustainable as the months continued. It was time for me to go back to my roots. Art and storytelling have always been a part of my life. Both my Grandfather and Mother were artists. Paintings hung on every wall of my house, I think I was born with a pencil in my hand.

When I was a teenager I was an animal educator.  Engaging children with animals like vultures, indigo snakes, alligators and more by telling oral stories about them.
Lightbulb moment! My first illustrated book was 'Stars Have Dreams' in which I created a an original folk tale. Putting your art in to the world for everyone to see is terrifying. I love it!  Now my sketchbook is filled with a billion more story ideas. All of my art is sketched by hand in pencil then the hand painted using vibrant water colors, calligraphy ink and acrylics.

I am California native, then grew up with my feet in the sandy beaches of Florida but now I live on the sandy desert mesa in New Mexico. Yes we have roadrunners and tumbleweeds. Dust devils appear as often as the ideas in my head.

Welcome to my world!
